Overview

alit – Netzwerk für Literatur is a Swiss network for literature. The old site ran on a worn-out WordPress setup, so I rebuilt it from scratch in Next.js — new foundation, a custom CMS the team enjoys using, and a home on my own server. The result is an unusual three-panel layout in German and French, with a dashboard built around how this team actually works.

Rebuilt from scratch: Replaced the old WordPress site with a fresh Next.js build. Faster, cleaner, and finally easy to keep developing. Rethought the navigation: Three panels: agenda, journal, and projects – sit side by side and respond as you move through them, instead of a usual menu and separate pages. Built to feel just as natural on a phone as wide open on desktop.

A custom CMS: Everything is editable by the team: agenda, journal, projects, and a media library. Rich text, drag-to-reorder, in German and French. Instagram straight from the agenda: Any event can be turned into a finished, ready-to-post Instagram carousel right inside the dashboard. No additional design tool needed.

Membership & newsletter, end to end: Signups flow into Mailchimp with automatic confirmation emails. The team can track payments, export, and delete records cleanly, GDPR-compliant. Moved onto my own server: Site, database, and mail, including the switch to alit.ch.
